He has invigilated exams for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and has
been invited to judge major international wine competitions, most recently
in Bangkok and Hong Kong. He has conducted tutored wine tastings at
corporate, private and public levels. Now based in France, and a fluent
French speaker, he searches the country for great winemakers and
superlative wines to share with you in a light-hearted yet informative way.
“I have a love-hate relationship with the wine world. I
love the wine; I hate the hype. Wine is there to be enjoyed on a personal
level. It’s the product of a partnership between man and nature. It can
work sublimely or rather less than well, or anywhere between the two. The
main thing is it shouldn’t be complicated by fancy language which can put
off those interested to know more.” John D Sherwin. ‘Night and
Day’ magazine, Hong Kong, April, 1993
